San Francisco healthcare professionals need flexible training options. Busy schedules at UCSF Health, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and California Pacific Medical Center leave little time for fixed classroom sessions. Self-Guided Learning™ courses from the American Heart Association® solve that problem. Safety Training Seminars, located at 1951 Taraval Street in San Francisco’s Sunset District, offers BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses using CPR Verification Station™ learning centers—so you complete training on your schedule, not someone else’s.
Here’s exactly how it works.
Self-Guided Learning™ combines two components: self-paced online cognitive learning and a self-guided skills session completed at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center. Learners complete both independently. No fixed class times. No waiting for an instructor.
Upon successful completion of both components, learners receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS. These eCards meet AHA training requirements and are accepted by hospitals, clinics, dental offices, and healthcare facilities across California and nationwide.
The specific course format offered through Safety Training Seminars is the HeartCode® Complete course—the American Heart Association’s Self-Guided Learning course for BLS, ACLS, and PALS.*
HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.
The online portion of a HeartCode® Complete course uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses your knowledge and confidence level, then adjusts your learning path in real time.
In practice, this means:
BLS online learning takes 1–2 hours. ACLS and PALS each take 2–3 hours. You complete everything independently, at home, at work, or anywhere with a connection.
Completing the online learning activity alone does not result in an AHA Course Completion eCard. You must also complete the self-guided skills session.
Once you finish the online learning activity, you schedule your hands-on skills session at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center at Safety Training Seminars’ Taraval Street location.
The CPR Verification Station learning center uses a Voice-Assisted Manikin (VAM) that provides real-time, objective performance feedback on:
There is no instructor. You complete skills independently. The station objectively measures your performance against AHA-defined criteria. You can repeat practice as needed until you achieve a passing score.
Skills sessions take approximately 30 minutes for BLS, ACLS, and PALS. After successful completion, you receive your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard the same day.
Safety Training Seminars offers the following HeartCode® Complete Self-Guided Learning courses at its San Francisco Sunset location:
The location is open Monday through Sunday, 8 AM to 10 PM. Street parking is available on nearby streets, and San Francisco Muni transit stops are steps away. The center sits between the corner of Taraval and 30th Avenue and Dumpling Kitchen—look for the AHA classroom with the glass entry door next to the planter.
Safety Training Seminars backs all AHA courses with a Low Price Guarantee. If you find a lower price for an identical class from a legitimate AHA provider, they match or beat it.
Self-Guided Learning™ courses work best for:
If your employer requires an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard and you need to complete training around a complex schedule, this format is built for you.
Safety Training Seminars has operated as an official American Heart Association Training Center (#20784) since 1989. The company holds a 4.8-star rating across 20,000+ Google reviews.
The Taraval Street location puts this training within reach of San Francisco’s Sunset and Richmond Districts, Golden Gate Park, Ocean Beach, and SF State University. For healthcare professionals working west of Twin Peaks, it’s one of the most accessible AHA training options in the city.
Reviews from previous learners describe the process as “painless,” “convenient,” and “computer-guided”—the skills station provides all the feedback you need, and you leave with your eCard the same day.
Self-Guided Learning™ courses remove every common obstacle to completing BLS, ACLS, or PALS training: fixed schedules, long classroom sessions, and waiting days for your eCard. You study online at your pace, complete hands-on skills at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center on Taraval Street, and walk away with your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard the same day.

It was very easy with the manikins and I really enjoyed not having an instructor.Posted on Oyun GelegpilTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank youPosted on Theresa DowningTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have taken BLS CPR with Safety Training Seminars for many years and have always been satisfied. The last two times were with the “automated” manikins which is super convenient and helpful. I paid a little extra in case I needed to reschedule which was smart - I had to reschedule my skill test twice and it saved me a lot of hassle and money.Posted on Albina GuerreroTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve taken her class a couple of renewals in a row. I love the ease of her teachings, her understanding of our current knowledge and melding the new NRP info into what we know and her energy with how she explains things. Thanks for another great renewal!Posted on Damian WongTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
